Giddy Up!

Melbourne Cup Day - Mummy style.
This year there was talk amongst us.
Excitement and talk.
Of doing something 'special' for Melbourne Cup Day.
Talk of ditching the jeans and kids for a day.
Of frocking up, dining out, indulging and living it up.

Then there was more talk.
Talk of school pick ups, of daycare bookings, of Nannas with plans, of cash flow, of logistics and reality.

So we came to my place.

We ate, we drank, we laughed.
We ditched the jeans but not the kids.
We fed, we changed, we played, we refereed, we mopped up spills not our own.
We indulged - but moderately.
We had a sweep or two - the race kind and the broom kind.
Guess who backed the winner today?
The race that stops a nation  - does not stop that nation's children.
Who says you can't have a messy Melbourne Cup with kids in tow?
Who says you can't get trashed?
Just in a completely different way to the 'fashions of the field' teetering around the country this evening, heels in hand.
One in every crowd!
Today was absolutely fabulous in my bookie's book.
The company, the shared food, the bubbles with friends, the feeling here was fabulous.

But next year.
Next year, girls.
Let's talk!!

Did you back a winner today?

Oh I love this Shar. What a crazy day it looked like you had... crazy fun at that though :o)
Such cute pics! Sometimes it's easier just to modify the plans to include the small ones and the more the merrier when it comes to Melbourne Cup celebrations anyway xo

Awww... as crazy as that living room looked like, I bet it was a whole lot of fun too! That would be my daughter's dream, I think :)

And that last pic there, made me laugh out loud. Kids really do the silliest things! hahaha

What a fabulous day!
I love the festive-ness (is too a word!) of the Melbourne Cup.
I missed my lunch at a friend's place because I had a sick boy. :(
Next year.....next year! :)

Love it! Looks like at lot of fun.
I sat in the car park of our local swimming pool and listened to the race on the radio. Halfway through my eldest whined that she didn't like this song, let's place i-spy instead. Dismal! I tell ya, next year will be different!

I know that discussion - have the same one every year too! Your Melbourne Cup looked fantastic - hope you got that vacuum cleaning husband of yours into the playroom to help you tidy up ;)
