This week, Eden is putting out the word - literally.
She has asked what you would say if you were invited to a party and the host had an open mic ready and waiting for you to say some of your favourite words?
Um, I'm afraid the truth is if there were an open mic, I'd avoid it.
Like the plague.
The red faced, splotchy skin, quivery voice, shaky hand plague.
Therefore, this post kinda looks like this...
However, I absolutely love words.
Written words.
Words spoken in jest with friends.
Words that express, reassure, comfort, explain or entertain.
Like most bloggy blog bloggers I love wrangling words,
constructing sentences and playing with this here language.
I love nerdy word puzzles, word play, dorky play-on-word jokes.
I love sayings, quotes, idioms, similes, metaphors - the whole lot.
I'm stupidly interested in language conventions and critical literacy.
When I think of 'words to live by' I can come up with masses of them.
I just can't choose any one string of them to commit to!
This week though, with some heavy goings-on around me
and even heavier feelings in my heart -
some words from my childhood keep coming back to me on repeat mode.
Love all.
Trust a few.
But always paddle your own canoe.
Not exactly sophisticated or poetic - hardly party fare - but my words for this week.
In fact, probably my words for my life.
Sorry, Eden!
Shar :-)

Ah, but those are very WISE words. x
Oh Shar, banish the negativity & why not grab that open mic & speak out for what you believe in, love, family, education & damn that anorexia, you have a wonderful voice, if only written word on your blog for now. Love you Shar, give those gorgeous boys of yours a big hug & stay strong, because you're awesome. Love Posie
Those words cover it all. No need for any ramblings. I might make me a poster to put up some where.
I hope that heavy heart mends soon.
Wise words as always xox
I too would hate an open mic.. and wouldn't be able to string anything together... unless of course there was a few glasses of wine involved.. but even then ... id be hopeless...!!! I love your words to live by.. they made me smile.. I hope whatever is going on is ok... and gets better soon.. sending love xx
I hate public speaking of any sort so I would not be far behind you. Hope the heaviness eases for you soon - have felt a little the same this week so I went for childhood words too xx
love it and very fitting...x
Oh Sweetheart, So sorry to hear about your heavy heart. But that is a nifty saying - fabulous! J x
I'm a big fan of words too Shar, love them actually. Embarrassing to admit, but I actually enjoy reading the online thesaurus, when I do that, I couldn't possibly feel nerdier. Heavy goings-on doesn't sound good Shar, I do hope you're remembering to take care of yourself and have plenty of relaxing time too xo
Wish I could vanish that heavy heart for you my friend; I’m a lover of words too, from many days of journal writing. My words to you today is “Live today Tomorrow will take care of itself” You are too sweet a friend to walk your days with a heart so heavy sending you happiness and laughter instead.
Always Wendy
